Thanks for all the stuff on the old bands in Denver. I knew and heard almost all of them from Boenzee Cryque thru Moonrakers, etc etc.
I essentially lived at 1601 W Evans from 65 thru ‘68. Much appreciated.

It actually was Chet Helms’s “Family Dog” btw – Barry booked local acts like ‘Eighth Penny Matter’ etc, but it was Chet from SF’s Avalon Ballroom that booked the headlining SF bands like Big Brother & Janis, Dead, Quicksilver, Airplane, etc.

Gene Chalk from Denver’s Soul Survivors / Beggars Opera CO just passed away recently, RIP. Everyone seems to have forgotten the Beggars Opera Company (a combo of Moonrakers and Soul Survivors). Some of them (Bob Webber, Bob Raymond, Bob MacVittie) went on to form Sugarloaf with Jerry Corbetta.

Anyway, thanks again, you can never put enough about Denver’s bands on this site for me.

Saw the Fogcutters up in Fort Collins performing for College Days – 1966 on College Avenue – along with Pacesetters (Fort Collins based band) and the Moonrakers.
