Sculptured House of Genesee

A beautiful rendering of the Sculptured House of Genesee, or the “Flying Saucer House”
as it is referred to by passerby on I-70.

Designed 1963 by Charles Deaton, it was the focal point of Woody Allen’s futurist comedy Sleeper from 1973. It was never quite finished until Denver’s John Huggins completed it and added the Deaton-designed addition in 2003.

I know the man that did the restoration of the house and had the opportunity to tour the house. My wife and I were very careful not to mess up there it is a very special house. The new addition that was added is right in line with Charles Deaton’s original design. He would be proud I am sure. What an honor to get to see up close one of the most famous houses in Colorado.
