Ute Trading Post sign
Arrowhead shaped Ute Trading Post “Curios” sign.
A roadside stop in Manitou Springs, from the 1930s, I believe.

Applejack Liquor sign in Applewood. The sign is from 1963, moved across the parking lot from it’s original location when the store moved to the current building.
We have been busy here latel at The Denver Eye headquarters. But expect this site to post daily and hopefully twice daily, this summer!

Pig’N Whistle
Long in a state of disrepair, Eddie Bohn’s Pig’N Whistle Hotel/Motel
on W. Colfax caught fire last night.
Originally opened by larger-than-life boxer Eddie Bohn in the ’20s,
it was updated and added to over the years, until finally closing in 1991.
This was a particularly bad graffiti day a couple of years ago.

Valverde Yacht Club sign
1965 hotel sign for the Valverde Yacht Club. I assume this name is a joke based on the Platte River Flood which devasted this intersection (I-25 & Alameda) that year.
The club, motel & sign were looking pretty beat and were tore down earlier this year.

Royal Host Motel sign
This bit of neon signage on East Colfax dating from 1966
was sadly lost in the recent renovation of the Royal Host Motel.
This hotel was featured in the film Every Which Way But Loose.
The sign featured spears, a nice color TV sign, and a beautiful crown motif.
